Patagonia, Argentina / Chile
In the Chat Wins footsteps
Patagonia. Just the name smells of adventure and vast expanses. This southernmost portion of South America is the dream of many travelers. Verdant valleys, Guanaca (the wild preceded the llama), condors, snow-capped mountains, turquoise mountain lakes and arid expanse of steppe. Patagonia conjures and seductive. A hundred years ago, many Swedish explorers hit, as the geologist Otto Nordenskjold and biologist Carl Skottsberg. A few decades later fell in love with the now world-renowned travel journalist Bruce Chatwin in the wild area. Love resulted in his breakthrough book, In Patagonia. Today you will find walkers, horse riders, adventurers and outdoor people here. There are numerous routes and things to see, from the fjords to gigantic glaciers. Many combine the national park Torres del Paine in Chile with neighboring Los Glaciares in Argentina. Whatever you choose to visit, so be sure to finish your wilderness adventure with a real tango night in Buenos Aires!
